Built for the Complexity
of Construction Disputes
A focused advisory practice for those navigating contracts, claims, and disputes in Singapore's construction sector.
Return to HomepageHow Angsana Advisory Came to Be
Angsana Advisory was established in response to a recurring observation: that construction disputes in Singapore frequently stall not because the legal position is unclear, but because the parties involved lack access to advice that combines genuine contractual knowledge with an understanding of how projects actually run on the ground.
The practice was founded at Guoco Tower in the heart of Singapore's financial district — a deliberate choice, given that many of our clients are developers, project financiers, and senior contractors who operate within that environment. We wanted to be where construction decisions are made, not at a remove from them.
From the start, we focused exclusively on construction and building disputes. We do not offer general commercial advisory or employment law. That focus has allowed us to develop a deep reading of how Singapore's standard form contracts — SIA, PSSCOC, and the various bespoke forms in use — actually behave when tested by delay events, variation disputes, or defective works.
Today, Angsana Advisory works with parties across the construction supply chain: from developers managing employer-side claims, to main contractors navigating SOPA adjudications, to subcontractors seeking to recover payment for completed works. We bring the same methodical approach to each engagement, regardless of the party's position in the dispute.
What We Stand For
Precision in Contractual Analysis
Construction disputes turn on contractual language. We read contracts carefully, trace how clauses interact, and advise on positions with that precision as the foundation.
Honest Assessment of Risk
We tell clients where their position is strong and where it carries risk. That kind of candour, even when the news is not straightforward, is what enables sound decisions.
Proportionate, Considered Advice
Not every dispute warrants full formal proceedings. We help clients understand the range of resolution pathways available and what each one actually involves in terms of time, cost, and outcome.
Technical Depth Where It Matters
We coordinate with engineering and quantity surveying experts when a claim requires technical grounding. Legal analysis and technical expertise are not separate — they work together from the outset.

How We Maintain Quality
Our advisory practice operates to defined standards across every engagement.
Current Knowledge of SG Construction Law
We track case law developments from the Singapore Courts and arbitral decisions relevant to SOPA, contract interpretation, and construction disputes.
Conflict of Interest Checks
Every new engagement is reviewed against our existing client base before commencement to identify any potential conflict of interest.
Confidential Handling of Project Information
Client project information, contract documents, and dispute correspondence are handled as strictly confidential. We do not share or reference client matters externally.
Written Advice as Standard Practice
Our advice is provided in writing, with the reasoning set out clearly so that clients can review, question, and act on it with confidence.
Peer Review on Complex Matters
Where a matter involves significant complexity or high-value claims, our advice is reviewed internally by a second advisor before being issued to the client.
Proportionate Scope of Work
We calibrate the scope of each engagement to the nature of the dispute. Not every matter requires a comprehensive advisory package — and we say so when a focused, targeted engagement is more appropriate.
Construction Disputes in Singapore's Building Environment
Singapore's construction sector operates within a well-developed framework of standard form contracts and statutory protections, including the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act. That framework creates predictable pathways for resolving payment disputes and formal claims — but navigating those pathways requires specific knowledge of how the processes work and what they demand of each party.
Construction contract disputes in Singapore frequently involve questions of time extension entitlement, variation valuation, liquidated damages, and responsibility for defective works. Many also engage the SOPA adjudication process, which operates on tight statutory timelines and places real demands on how claims and responses are prepared. Angsana Advisory maintains focused knowledge of these areas to support clients at each stage.
We operate from Guoco Tower at 1 Wallich Street, and we serve clients across Singapore's development, infrastructure, and commercial construction sectors. Our advisory practice is calibrated to the scale and complexity that Singapore's building environment regularly presents.
