Three Services.
One Area of Law.
Construction contract review, adjudication and dispute board support, and delay and defect claim advisory — each structured around how construction disputes actually work in Singapore.
Return to HomepageHow We Work Through a Construction Matter
Every engagement begins with a review of the available documentation. For a contract matter, that means the contract itself, any pre-contractual correspondence, and any relevant project documents. For a dispute, it includes correspondence, certificates, payment claims, and whatever programme and defect information is available.
We identify the contractual provisions that are relevant to the matter, assess how they interact, and form a view on the range of outcomes that the facts support. That analysis informs the written advisory output — which is calibrated to what the client needs to decide or do next, rather than to cover every possible angle exhaustively.
Where a matter requires technical input — on delay analysis, defect assessment, or remediation costs — we engage relevant experts early enough that their findings can inform the legal analysis, rather than being added as an afterthought.
Professional Standards We Apply
Strict Confidentiality
Client project information and dispute positions are treated as confidential throughout and after the engagement.
Written Advisory Outputs
All advice is provided in writing, with the reasoning behind each position clearly set out.
Internal Peer Review
Significant or high-value engagements are reviewed by a second advisor before the output is issued.
Statutory Timeline Management
For SOPA matters, we track all statutory deadlines and alert clients well before action is required.
Construction Contract Review
This service provides a thorough review and advisory on construction contracts, covering the full range of forms in use in Singapore — SIA, PSSCOC, and bespoke documents prepared by developers, government agencies, or main contractors.
The output is a marked-up version of the contract with inline commentary on each significant clause. We assess how risk is allocated between the parties and identify provisions that carry particular risk for the client — recommending specific amendments where the current drafting is unfavourable.
The service is relevant before signing a contract, during contract negotiations, or when a dispute has arisen and the parties need to understand what the executed contract actually says about their respective positions.

Adjudication & Dispute Board Support
This service covers the full lifecycle of adjudication proceedings under Singapore's Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act — from structuring a payment claim through to enforcement of the adjudicator's determination.
SOPA adjudication operates on tight statutory timelines, and how a payment claim or payment response is prepared has a direct bearing on the outcome. We structure these documents carefully, with the adjudicator's likely analysis in mind and the contractual framework as the foundation.
For major infrastructure projects with dispute boards in place, we provide the same level of structured support — preparing submissions and managing the process through the dispute board to final determination.
Scope of Support
- Payment claim preparation and submission advisory
- Payment response drafting and review
- Adjudicator appointment applications
- Adjudication application and response preparation
- Enforcement proceedings advisory
- Dispute board proceedings and submissions
Delay & Defect Claim Advisory
This service addresses claims relating to project delays, defective workmanship, and cost overruns. It is available to both claimants — parties seeking to recover costs or time — and respondents who need to assess and contest claims made against them.
Delay claims require a careful assessment of the contractual programme against the actual sequence of events on site. We identify which delay events are relevant, whether they fall on the critical path, and what time extension entitlement they support under the applicable contract form.
For defect claims, we assess the defect schedule against the contract obligations, evaluate remediation cost estimates, and prepare or review claim submissions accordingly. Where technical input is needed — from a structural engineer or quantity surveyor — we engage and coordinate with appropriate experts as part of the advisory process.
